Nano-precipitation leading to linear zero thermal expansion over a wide temperature range in Ti22Nb

Certain cold-worked martensitic Ti-alloys exhibit tunable linear thermal expansion along a specific sample direction. These intriguing properties are related to the anisotropic of orthorhombic ?? martensite. However, tailored obtained in this way is limited single-phase temperature field , below reverse transformation martensite into austenite. Here, we demonstrate that iso formed by diffusion can also regulate using prototypical Ti22Nb alloy. More importantly, range which occurs enormously broadened relative We clarify formation path nano-sized during cycling and resolve crystallographic relationship with parent phase. findings provide new routes for designing low/negative large operating ranges.
